Caroline Elliott is a ski patroller, SAR dog handler and now above all, a snow safety educator, specialising in empowering young snowsports enthusiasts. Working for the ski patrol in France, Caroline has a passion in her field of expertise, publishing in 2021 her children’s book on the international market with the aim to try and guide youngsters so they can remain safer on the slopes.
The leading role in the book is Fjord, Caroline`s former French Flat Coated Retriever. Fjord started learning his trade as an avalanche SAR dog at the tender age of 3 months and the journey to pick him up in the NE of France was delayed due to a huge snow storm. This was not a bad omen for such a career he led in the mountains! He left us in February 2020 when he was on top form, just after an avalanche training session, he however lives on in ‘Fjord’s Mountain Mission’.
Caroline loves spending her free time in the wilds of nature. She is a great believer that the outdoors can help to maintain one’s physical and mental well-being.
Caroline is equally passionate about the importance of providing young women with a role model to help inspire them to follow their dreams in the mountains. Her work continues with Källa, her young female dog and hopefully the future mum of Fjord’s puppies. Due to Källa’s gender she cannot work in avalanche rescue in France but has another challenge, that of bed bug detection. Soon she could be deployed by helicopter to high altitude mountain refuges to sweep and check so you’re not nibbled on in the middle of the night!

“ Fjord and I have so much in common, he loves water, in its fluid and frozen form, we both love our food and cuddles. ”
